The most handsome actor of the Hindi film Industry with an enviable physique and dimpled face,was born on the 6th of October,1946 in a business oriented family at Peshawar ( Pakistan ). After the partition, his family shifted to India.

He completed his schooling in St.Xaviers High School, Bombay and Delhi Public School and also Lord Bannes High School,Devlali. He was very good at football,cricket and tennis during the school years.At the age of thirteen, one of his teachers forced him to act in a drama at Delhi public School and then onwards he got attracted towards acting. Meanwhile he started working out under the guidance of India''s famous wrestler, Shyamlal ( who represented India in Moscow Olympics ).After slogging very hard he developed an attractive physique.

Actually was a science student but his father forced him to go for commerce. In college days he has a group of round about thirty friends and all were the die-hard fans of the famous Rock Group,''Beatles''. Once, in a party he was offered the first role in a film. The film was Sunil Dutt''s Man Ka Meet (1969). Sunil Dutt''s brother Somu Dutt was the hero of the film and Vinod performed a negative role but was noticed more than the hero. Initially his father was againist his decision of joining the films but afterwards supported him.

He worked very hard and eventually his work was appreciated. Despite of doing negative roles initially in the films like Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh and Reshma Aur Shera he proved his abilities as well and turned out to be a wonderful villain. Soon with his magnetic personality he started receiving positive roles and then onwards things changed in his favour. After doing number of films like Parvarish,Mugaddar Ka Sikandar, Hera Pheri, Amar Akbar Antony and Khoon Pasina with superstar Amitabh Bachchan he became the main competitor of Bachchan.Prior to this he married with a Parsi girl, Geetanjali Taleyarkhan ignoring the resistance from both the families. The happily married couple had two beautiful children. At the peak of his career as an actor, Vinod Khanna announced his retirement from films to pursue the way of his inner ''self''. In the year 1978 he started living with Acharya Rajnish (Osho) in his Ashram at Pune. Many producers and directors were shoked with his decision.

In the year 1980, Acharya Rajnish went to U.S.A. and his followers including Vinod also went with Guru where he worked very hard. He did many laborious jobs as plumber,electrician,cook,gardener etc.The commune had a new colony called ''Organ colony'' where almost 20,000 people used to live with all the facilities.The life was totally different and there were no differences, no competition, no hatred amongst the people. After some days the Guru, Rajnish was arrested and was sent to jail.This time Vinod quit the Ashram no get back to India and again joined the films in the year 1985.

He started like a fresher and his comeback film, Insaaf directed by famous ad-felmmaker Mukul S. Anand became a hit.In the year 1990 again he felt in love with Kavita Daftary and also tied a knot with her. Their marriage was blessed with son Sakshi and beloved daughter Shraddha.

Vinod Khanna produced a film Himalaya Putra to launch his second son, Akshaye. His elder son Rahul live in New-York.

He was honored with Filmfare''s Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 1999 for his outstanding contribution towards the Hindi film Industry. More recently he went in to politics and got elected second time for Loksabha as a Member of Parliament. Now he is full time politician solving issues for his constituency. And now his hard and devoted work in politic has come to the deserved point. Vinod was inducted as minister of state for foreign affairs.

He also act in films with short roles very much intermittently.
